Established in 2018 by Dr Anthony Sammut, we assist family businesses, owner-managed businesses, startups and small to medium sized enterprises with business advisory and legal services.  

Our focus is providing family and owner-managed businesses with an array of services specifically tailored towards their success. In this day and age a legal advisor adds value by combining the business and legal spheres.  We are your trustworthy source of experience and expertise in your role as director, owner or entrepreneur involved in any challenging scenario, whether family conflict, succession planning, business division, merger or acquisition or facing an impending need of change or growth. 

We bring a wealth of experience working on both sides of the business, the advisory and the executive level management, we take a hands-on approach to identify the causes of family and business challenges, devising strategies and implementing solutions that lead to business continuity, in the ever changing business landscape.  The vision of the firm is to offer solutions based on first-hand experience by being embedded at the client’s end to ensure a realistic and best-of-breed approach for each scenario.  Our mission reflects itself in our unconventional approach of direct involvement, by your side, in the business operations during challenging times.

What we believe in

It is an undeniable fact that the challenges proper to family and owner-managed businesses require a particular skillset beyond the typical textbook approach applicable to the larger corporate realities.

We believe that in the particular circumstances  of family and owner-managed businesses, the root cause of daily problems often lies deeper than the problem itself.  The solution lies in our focused approach, towards strengthening the relationships between key players, enhancing effectiveness and ensuring that all parties work toward the common goal of business success.

Our hands on experience has taught us that the success of owner managed business passes through the practice of these core values.  These values breathe back L.I.F.E. into a stagnant business.

Learning Culture

A company culture needs to be built on the core pillar of lifelong learning.  Ongoing learning helps in self-development and is a value which contributes both at an individual level and at business level. Business owners need to embrace the learning aspect to always improve and develop, irrespective of the fact that there is no one above them in their own company’s structure.

Integrity

Integrity is the second fundamental value of any effective business leader. Integrity means being transparent, open, and offering an objective assessment of skills and capabilities of your team and family members working in the business, especially future managers.  Integrity leads to sustainability, prosperity, and success.  Lack of integrity often leads to executional deadlock.

Fairness

Fairness is another underlying value that contributes to most decision-making processes that every leader must face on a regular basis. There needs to be fairness towards oneself, fairness towards others and fairness towards the achievement of the organization’s goals. Transparency of business goals and an honest work ethic both tie into fairness.

Effectiveness

Effectiveness, the fourth value, refers to a shift from effort spent on a job to the appraisal of that effort and its outcome. Effectiveness is not how much or how hard an individual works but about converting intelligence, knowledge and work into results which set the limit of what can be achieved. Effective family businesses are those who value and appreciate formality, regular briefings, and communication channels.

Our Founder

Dr. Anthony Sammut has a wealth of experience and expertise in commercial law, corporate and business advisory.  An advocate and management consultant to SMEs and owner managed businesses in Malta and internationally.  Anthony forms part of advisory boards of companies operating in various fields and sits on executive boards of several organisations.  He graduated from the University of Malta in Law and holds a diploma in business management from Henley Business School, UK.  Between 2008 and 2013 Anthony chaired the Malta Film Commission,  under the remit of the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Investment. 

Throughout his career Anthony has supported executives and business owners in various projects including:
